Yes, you could say Uncle Khosrove is an antagonist (to everyone, nearly!) and John Byro, of course. Poverty is definitely a factor, but I would call that also part of the setting (social environment).

Always be careful with character names and typing. The farmer's name is "Byro." Careful attention to detail is important.

Yes, Khosrove is funny and he is an exaggerated character (thus "hyperbole" is correct.

Refer to the author by his or her last (family) name: Saroyan. Use the full name--William Saroyan--when mentioned the first time, then use the last name only subsequently.

No need to put "the horse" in quotes. Place your commas inside the quotation marks in the North American style.
