Something New
It was a something new to me that we had to have a group discussion in the class (most of times in the semester).Beginning of time, it was uncomfortable to me because I used to work individually as well. Right after the group work, Teacher Brad asked us to write a response from the group discussion, so if we didn’t participation or didn’t pay attention that much, we really can’t have a good response for that. One day, we had chance to read an Ian Brown’s prose, “Etiquette: Reintroducing real-life to a smart phone—obsessed society.” We were quite surprised about our rudeness with smartphone from the prose. However, we had strong reaction with that issue in the group discussion and we brought out very sharp criticism for response of writing. It was like an enlightenment movement for our class. Follow the workshop, I intended to care about the manners with a smartphone in the class. I am sure, I learned a lot through the group discussion to share and compare with one’s opinion. Finally, a group debate and dissent are not a big burden in the class anymore.

Something Memorable

I had many memorable moments and lessons in English 11 class, however, I would like to mention about poetry workshops in the class. I really enjoyed the poetry workshops although we had to write two poems and presentations as an assignment through this semester. It wasn’t easy assignment yet it was quite enjoyable moment. Teacher Brad introduced about Canada’s famous poets (Leonard Cohen) and other poems to better understand of poetry for us. Also, we had chance to introduce a poem that we choose and shared our response from that. When we seemed to have a good mood about poem, Teacher Brad, asked to write a list poem without fail (no one can’t complain; also, Brad write a poem as us). After those poetry sessions, I realized that I felt much comfortable with this project. In fact, the highlight part in the poetry workshop was a presentation. Every fellow students poured out naturally their precious process of their poems and we had some emotional time together. It was a moment like we had on a time-machine—we went back to 40 years ago, so we met a young (good-looking) Brad. Also, we all went to someone’s childhood together, so we wiped out our tears quietly. I appreciated many things from this class (not only gained English skills but also I attained precious memorable moments for life).

Something New
With this semester coming to an end, I have a pause for looking back my journey – English 11 studying. I realize that I’ve made many accomplishments with every step that I have taken. For this I must give credit to Brad’s great approach to teaching (very experienced and creative). It is new. Brad doesn’t teach with a script, which is different with the most teachers’ styles, he poses an idea in the form of a question and guides us to seek the answer; he inspires us to construct our own ideas as we handle our assignments. Brad’s approach to online collaborative learning is very new to me. To assigns homework on a blog, he always gives an example of his own work as a guide to help us understand the assignment. This platform makes sharing our views easier and it also allows us to learn from our peers’ strengths. Learning from multi-media is also new to me. Brad arranges some outstanding films and videos for us to watch in class. Not only did we enjoy these wonderful times, they have also stimulated our interest in learning and broadened our insight in different perspectives. Brad’s creative and unique teaching style is definitely crucial to my improvement in English.

Among many emotional and interesting moments of this semester, the first day of class was the most unforgettable one in my memory. As an exciting new student, I was so anxious and frustrated at the time because I couldn’t understand what Brad was talking about (maybe some students had the same awful feeling and experience). Although I tried to catch some words from his speaking, I couldn’t get the meaning of whole sentences. I was very disappointed and I doubted myself whether I can keep studying in this course. To my surprise, I understood almost half of Brad’s teaching in the second class. It was such confident encouragement! Over time when I have adapted to his teaching pace and tone, I suddenly realized that my listening skills have improved significantly and I overcame the initial challenge. Now I am extremely grateful for not dropping this course (I bet most of our classmates agree with me). I have enjoyed English 11 with great enthusiasm. I wish this semester could continue rather than close soon, like a traveler who is reluctant to leave by the end up the trip. I believe this valuable memory and experience will be a good encouragement for my next term.

Something New
It is a new experience for me that Teacher Brad hands out a note in every lesson. The note is the instruction of the study schedule, the aim of the group work, and the standard of the homework. The note points out the direction of a English eleven student and the criterion is very clear. In spite of teacher’s rapid voice, I can grasp his main points of teaching by the guideline of the note. According the note, I review the lesson in home. Teacher Brad often recommends some meaning thing in the note. For example, He recommends RSA Animates and it is a useful website for improving my level of English and widening my knowledge of different domains; and he recommends the website “Punctuation Tree ” and now I used to link to this web when I are confused with the punctuation’s use. Teacher Brad is a rigorous teacher and a careful consideration on my English study road.

Something Memorable
The lesson of English eleven started from a poetry of “Here I Am” and end with another poetry of “A Note”. The two poetry’s study is impressed deeply in my mind. I knew the power of poetry before, but I still under-stimulated the force to the emotion. I listened the poetry’s reader once more, but now I have the chance to listen a poem reading by the writer himself/herself. I can not refrained from my tears is poured out when Lilian readed “combing my mother’s white hair”. So, when I listened that shabnam readed “ to kiss your MOM, lie on her arms,”I had to turn my neck to look at the window avoiding my tear is full of my eyes again. Teacher Brad’s poetry lesson let me know the reason of the existence of the poetry: Poetry serves and nourishes an person’s mind , and affects others unintentionally by sincere expression.

Something New

English 11 was full of surprises and new things. The first new thing in English 11 was “The Blog”. It was first time I could post my homework on the blog which was really helpful for me. Reading the comments posted by classmates to write my own. Blog posting homework was a challenge because everyone can read your post, so this time I should work harder to write something great. The second thing was Mr. Brads’ teaching method. The way he taught us, he motivates me to be an active student. Writhing and presenting poems to all in the class, was a big provocation. Also working in groups was the most helpful activity in the class, which we could talk with other students and shared our ideas. He always surprises us with something new in class or giving us homework, such as writing poem and watching silent movies. I admire your hard working to encourage me to write my own ideas. I have special thanks from my heart to my unique teacher “Mr. Brad”.

Something Memorable
People have memorable experience throughout their life, the celebration or other remarkable events. In my life that has reminded me till my die are the moments in English 11 class, which was full of memories, specially the last poem “A Note” presentation day. On that day we were living in everyone’s past. We experience a mother feeling before boring her child, a daughter who missed her mother, and a girl who wanted to forget her past. I enjoy it a lot. Especially my presentation made everyone emotional. That was first time in my life that I cried in front of others. I am a strong girl, but I couldn’t control my self, and I will never forget it. It was hard to present your feeling in front of all students, but I did it. My previous experience on first poem “Here I Am” helped me to control my nervousness. Memories are the treasure of our life, which is priceless.

Something new
English 11 was an exciting class for me to learn new things especially the presentation which I had never done before. I knew that I could use the presentation as a good opportunity in my future. Therefore I was pleased that I had an assignment called “Here I am”. First I had to write a poem which it didn’t take me that long because Mr. Brad passed all the students an example of the poem. Then I had to think about my presentation which it took me long time. It was my first time. In addition I was glad that day I got a chance to see my other classmates presenting first. That way I got the idea of presentation. At first I was all nervous to go up in front of my classmates and Mr. Brad. However after I did my presentation and reciting my poem I felt much more relaxed.

Something memorable
I had really pleasant moment, and I learned new stuff in my English 11. I would love to say that one of the most memorable assignments that I had in Mr. Brad class was watching a silent movie, called “The Sun Raise the Song of Two Human”. I really loved the movie. It brought tears in my eyes, and some parts of it made me laugh. Even though the movie was silent, still it had lots of meaning. The movie was really good, so I watched at home with my husband. After all I had to write about the memorable scenes from the movie. It wasn’t really easy to write because it had lots of meaningful scenes. However, I picked a part of the movie and I started to write about. I’m sure I can watch the movie again at home.

Something New
Studying English 11 was very challenging subject for me. I felt something new and fresh start in Brad's class but it also something difficult class for me. Because I am not good at computers and all homework must be handed in word processed. Even though I under go a little hard time for homework and using computer, now I am very satisfied with the class. After studying the Brad's class, I have a hope and possibility of studying upper English level. The blog is also new to me, and I didn't like putting my lousy computerised homework to the blog because everybody to see it but now overcome all difficulty and I accept my mistake and correct it. Anyway, now I feel comfortable and I can enjoy for the Brad's class. I realized that something new is something difficult but it is a great opportunity to learn something different and share my idea with others. (152 word)

What makes things something memorable in English 11 class is that it was something different, something difficult, and something dangerous. I felt something different and fresh start in Brad's class that was a little different teaching style for computerised work and using blog. It was a good opportunity improve my computer skill and how to using internet. I have also something difficult thing in Brad's class, he taught me many useful things that, especially, when you write essay, be specific and concrete idea. sometimes, I was got no mark because my writings were vague, pointless and many error. lastly, I also learnt someting dangerous in human's mind. I enjoyed several movie and among them "Sun Rise" is most memorable things I ever enjoyed movie in the class . After watching the silent film,I think of the violence and dangerous greedy mind in man. More over , presentation also happy memory in my mind. In the process of all student's presentation, I was touched by their passion and enthusiasm. one student even sobbed while presenting their work. Compare other student, I was idle and lousy student. Now, I regret, I have to invest more time to the class and homework than hang aroud here and there. It was a great opportunity to learn not only English writng but also Through this class, I learn presentation skill and overcame my shyness.(202 word)

Something New
Walking into English 11 full of strangers was one of the biggest risks I took this semester. I heard a lot of negative and positive things about the course, but I kept rerunning the negative things in my head. They described Brad as if he was a monster but when I finally met him, he was as sweet as honey. In English 11, there was always something new to look forward to, like the group discussions. I found them very helpful because they gave me the opportunity to hear others’ opinions and suggestions about my work. Due to this, I have learned how to take criticism. Something that was also new was writing our own poems and presenting them in front of our fellow students. Writing my own poem was not something I enjoyed doing because it comes with lots of emotion but I loved reading the ones that are written by professional poets. However, when Brad gave us the chance to present to our fellow students, that helped me overcome my stage fright. Overall, English 11 has been a great journey and I couldn’t be any prouder to say Brad was not a scary creature.198

Something memorable
It is hard to believe that the school year has come to an end. I remember sitting in English class looking around trying to make eye contact with some of my class mates and I thought to me myself “Oh my God; I’m sitting in class with a bunch of strangers.” But those strangers became close friends. We would come to class with positive attitudes, ready to work and share ideas. For example, I remember when we watched the short film “Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans,” we felt the same emotions and we talked about it. Everyone was accepted in English class for who they are and because of that we are all leaving with great memories (140 words)

Something New

English 11 with Mr. Brad was something new and interesting. The workshop papers, which he hands out at the beginning of every class. This workshop papers guide's the students to the assigned homework’s, step by step. Also, the blog where everyone in the class has to post most of the homework to share and to learn more about others writing styles. Similarly, poetry presentations were something that I had never done before, however Brad with (28 years of experience) helps everyone to enjoy and learn something new every day. One of the most interesting works that we had done in English 11 was "persuasive RSAnimate", which thought me a lot and it was an eye opening assignment. Brad with his unique teaching style helped me growing my English; he taught me to use my own ideas in writing and to choose my own writing style. 148 WORDS

Something memorable

With so many memorable works that we had done in Brad's English 11; poetry is one of them, that made almost everyone interested and at the same time (freaked out). The two poetry that we had to done was "Here I am" and "A note". Brad's poetry topics forced everyone to think deep inside and to find something that they had never thought of. His topics brought out the poet inside each of the students alive. While presenting, most of the "Here I am" poems were very emotional, specially Lillian's. Also, while presenting "A note " poems Shabnam's was one of the ones that I enjoyed the most. Similarly, watching the "Sunrise" movie was the best , I had never watched an old movie. This class thaught me so much and I believe all the knowledge and experiences that i gained will help me through life and studies.148 words

Something New

It’s something new to realize that the two English classes I taught this year are among my last. I want everyone to know that leaving my teaching position soon does not mean that I wish to spend all my time in a rocking chair! It’s just that I’m restless and aware that time is more limited in my life (notwithstanding my long-lived family members). There are things I want to do and places I wish to go that are hard to fit in to a regular teaching position. You may know that I love my work, my students and, most importantly, this school—the PALC. Certainly, I can apply what I have learned over the past 33 years since receiving my teaching certificate in other places and in other ways. It has been such a pleasure to be here with all of you this term, to experience your joys and frustrations and to know, also, that it is almost time to move on. —163 words

Something Memorable

Observing my students in groups is a constant source of good memories, especially when you share in the whole class sessions after having a good discussion together. I could sense this term when things were going well, especially after we had reached the middle of the semester and were, finally, comfortable with each other. At that point, it becomes easier, and the work we study can be more complex and interesting. I need to remember this because each semester I have to convince a whole new set of students of the efficacy of this approach. Remember my story of the college professors who tried group versus traditional lecture in their teaching? The power of a collective is always greater than the sum of its parts. I hope you can now agree. But this depends on your willingness to engage with each other. I will always remember the groups (and how putting them together was a logistical nightmare of matching personalities, strengths, origins and more) and the individuals rising to an occasion with a hard won tidbit to share. —180 words
