My Uncle Gav

My Uncle Gav provides a good example of a life lived long, and, for the most part, well. He was a kind of “still waters run deep” guy who didn’t say much. Gav expressed his nature physically—on Hollyburn and Garibaldi as a young man; at Silver Star after retirement —from his teen years right through to his 92 birthday. He skied beautifully. His story, of career and schooling denied by the depression and war years, of diligent work at a job beneath his intellect, of 28 years of joyful skiing in retirement, would be of interest to many who live in the shadow of the mountains that he loved. I learned many things about living well from my Uncle Gav.—121 words

Andrew Stanton's List:

1. "Make me care"---it can attract people.
2. 2+2, not 4.
let audience figure out the meaning themselves.
3. the major character has a spine: inner motor
4. "change"
5."drama is anticipation with uncertainty"
6. like your characters
7. have a theme
8. invoke wonder
9. express values from deep inside

Ming, my childhood friend, high school classmate, was a legendary young man who was full of energy and adventure. He made so many troubles to stumblingly spend his teenage—as a mischievous prankster and a good Samaritan; to achieve his goal and dedicated his young life to his career—being an honourable Air Force pilot. The huge lost is that he died for carrying out task at age of 28. In his story, of so much fun as a head-achy naughty boy in a considerable of part, of our subtle relationship (I never admitted), of passing brutal training in Air force Academy to be an outstanding pilot, we would see such a short but vigorous and brilliant life. Ming is a hero and my spiritual encouragement. He is never out of my memory.

My friend Yoona is the most memorable friend among girl's high School alumi who became a very famous celebrity in South Korea. She was no ordinary girl--from an early age,she displayed precocious talent and great ardor for music. I admired her tenacity because she started with nothing, but determination. She had a distinctive imagination and bizarre idea,so other freinds and I were affected by her many talents through puberty. Eventually, She achieved her dream and attained her aim. I love her tremendous enthusiasm and effort for her music. She has many ardent admires for her beauty and her music, but I love her passion.

Parents have the great influence in our life, because they are the people that we have known for longest. My grandfather had a great influence in my life. He taught me lots of lessons in life since I was child, specially the subject of education and an independent female. My Grandpa was 12 years old when his parent dead and he were living alone. He wasn’t an educated person. He attends high school only for six months, but he was the most intelligent person. He was a finance manager at International Bank of Afghanistan. He was a curious and hard working person. Grandpa was a famous writer too. He wrote a book about a champion (Abu Muslim e Khorasani) who is famous until now, and the president of that time put his book on the National Museum Gallery of Afghanistan. Grandpa is no more between us, but his feat is always alive and I want to be like him a strong and hard working person.

Reverend Kim
Last summer, I came across to know reverend Kim who is retired pastor on my jogging in the morning. He is meek and humble minded person. I really respect him even though I cannot understand and follow his word entirely. He attend church every day in the morning for prayer. He has three article of faith as a pastor. The first thing is that he will not have any balence in bank account, and has no house, lastly always ready to move anywhere God might order. His life very similar to Michelle Toucher's essay named "My sister lives in this world but isn't entirely here". I think he renounce this secular society and become a hermit in the heaven. Xia is a very ordinary lady, really very ordinary. More than twenty years ago, when she was in her prettiest age as a university student, you hardly felt her existent even she sat beside you and her appearance was lack of attractiveness even there were more than seventy percent of boys studying in the big campus. The only thing always beside her was the highest marks of almost all of the courses. She grew up in a very poor village; her parents have five daughters and she is in the middle. Yet, she strives to study and work in every step in her life. In my opinion, she is not a ordinary lady being observed from different angles of view .

Mr.Chen is my best friend. He is a wise and intelligent person. However, he is a dull man in routine life. In 2001, we worked in Africa field, there was no any communication means and telephones. He tried his best to set up the internet system by satellite line, and use email system to connect outside. But he always forgot something in his life. I remembered he was knocked by the glass door three times when we transferred in a lounge of Dubai international airport, for he never noticed whether the glass door was open or not. He is just a person like this but he is very good at his study, now he is computer specialist.---117words

My better half
Makassia is a very loving young lady; she loves her family and friends. Makassia is not only my cousin but she’s also my guardian angel. She’s my number one supporter; she’s always standing next to me and encouraging me to go for what my heart desires. Makassia is someone who is willing to put a hundred per cent effort into protecting someone from pain. She’s a person who cares about someone’s happiness and loves you for being yourself. She makes me feel like I am the most important person in the world. In addition, my cousin is the definition of a go-getter. She works really hard to achieve things she wants in this world. For example, when she first came to Canada she started in a low level in school; but with determination at school she’s now in college working towards becoming a professor.

Tireless mother

My mother is a sunshine that shines over me everywhere I go; her love is the sweetest. She is very beautiful and has the kindest eyes I have ever seen. My sweet mother is the most independent woman I have met; she is a mother of five kids and works hard to provide their needs. She was a father and a mother for her kids for almost 20 years now, after the death of my father, she was always a single parent. My strong mother rescued all her five kids from the cruel war in Afghanistan all the way to Canada with a lot of suffering just to give her kids a good life. However, this is not just a good life that I have; it is the best that I could ask for. 134 words

Pitch for narrative essay

I would love to talk about my dad who was always in trouble because of his identical brother. Whatever my uncle would do, he would blame it on my dad. For example if my uncle did not go to school, the principal would punish my dad. Another funny story of my uncle is he had more than one girlfriend at time. One of his girlfriends found out and he was cheating, so she went to my dad’s shop and she bit my dad. In addition, my dad went to the military for two years. He came back home and a few weeks later they asked my dad to go back to the military. (Back in Afghanistan the technology was not good enough to do finger prints) Therefore, my dad went to the military again. My poor dad would do his job double because of my uncle because of the love he had for my uncle.
