Write a short (100
to 150 word) pitch (to attempt to
promote, sell, or advance someone or something) for your narrative essay idea. Why would we be
interested in the person you chose? What makes this person interesting? What
influence have they had on you that is interesting to others?
Bring your pitch
to class that day and prepare to discuss the pros and cons of your idea and to
improve your overall plans for your first draft.

Mike: My Camp Boss
Mike is a memorable character in my life. My narrative essay will concentrate mostly on my difficulties adjusting to a new job. When I had just turned 18 years old, I got a job with Cominco in a mineral exploration camp in Canada’s high Arctic region (then the Northwest Territories; now part of Nunavut). To say I was a bit “raw” and inexperienced is to put it mildly. During the first weeks, I got into trouble with my immediate supervisor—Don, the camp cook—and needed Mike’s help to understand my role and responsibilities. You might say that Don was not a good communicator, but he was a good cook and our relationship was important to the smooth running of the camp. My essay will relate to you my circumstances (the setting in all its uniqueness) and how it related to my getting into trouble and, in the end, my successful and incredible summer spent in northern Canada.

My Brave Mother
My essay will be about my bitter days and how I overcome through a memory of my mother. My mother is a symbol of perseverance and challenging. She was born of rich family in 1936, and was beloved one of two girls among eight children. However a cruel Korean War took both her house and means of livelihood in 1947. I can’t even imagine how she had borne the misery of living. Once my husband lost his job (seemed no hope to get another job) I was frustrated with tears. I would show you how these two different times of setting- my mother’s burdensome days and my affliction- are related and affected me. It is too far to see her often since I have moved in Canada, but she still influences me and make me stronger whenever I am in trouble and lost to find a way out from it.

Miss Yan: My High School Teacher
Miss Yan is a memorable character in my life. My narrative essay will concentrate mostly on my difficulties of my grade 9 school year. About 20 years ago Grade 9 students had to take government entrance test in order to get a high school and continue education. My home teacher, Miss Yan, asked everyone in her class that you must entered a high school for next year. She persevered with this theory: “If you don’t get into a high school, it means you won’t have future. Parents and she will shame on you.” Unfortunately, books did not like me and you could imagine that the whole year became a nightmare in my life. You might say that she was old and subjective, but instead she is a good responsible who teacher cannot be doubted. My essay will relate to you how my teacher used strategies to push me (including other classmates) to reach her request and satisfy her vanity between teachers at school. In the end, my high school test surprised everyone and it did change my future a lot.
My Strong Mother:
The person I’ll be writing about in my narrative essay is my mother. My essay will also include the advice my mother has given to me about life and school so I could be a stronger person. She has been able to help me a lot because I used to be shy. Like when my parents and I went to a wedding in February, my mother told me to socialize with everyone. The reason why you’ll be interested in my mother is she’s a very strong person herself and she isn't afraid to speak her mind. What makes my mother so interesting is she always reflects on the positive things people have done in their lives and the success it gives them. These are the many reasons you’ll be interested in reading my narrative essay.

Zach: The Mysterious Love
The person I would like to write about is a boy named Zachary. We met in the year 2007 when I went to Okanagan Mission Secondary. This High School is in Kelowna, I finished my grade 12 year there. This year was special to me because I was changing and becoming aware of my interests. When I first saw Zach it was like the whole world stopped and he was walking in slow motion. Now I have had crushes before but this was different. He has had such an influence on my life for the past six years now. I strongly believe that I will always love him, but he and I only have history by talking on the internet. I have chosen to write about him because I have no idea how to get over someone so amazing. This love saddens me because the grass is green only on one side.

The Coach
I will write my essay about my university biathlon coach. Anatoly died in 2008 year when he was only sixty years. The cause of his death was chronic alcoholizm. God lavishly awarded him a large number of talents : Anatoly Kupriyanovich was a brilliant athlete, a talented teacher , he had golden hands , and he was just a sage person . However, God took his will when Anatoly became an older man . We cooperated together more then 8 years, until I stopped biathlon . I learned from him so many things; he helped me to became a good biathlete , he taught me to conventional wisdom , and some of his advices and principles of life I am using by date . The person who was able to give a ticket to the lives of several young people, but he could not beat his weakness . It is very sad and ironic.

My successful friend
Dieter was my best friend in my life.He was interesting because once I had rented an appartment and it was under construction. I had my 2. Exam in Medicine, but the worker worked every day.I couldn,t pass the exam. Dieter helped me a lot to make a claim because he was a lawyer. He was honest ,and treated me also not to be false. We made a claim and we won. The Landlord wanted 1000 Mark for the carpet that was colored by water. We pay each 500 Mark because the Court said it wasn,t a lot of money, and you have to solve it between yourselves. I paid my part eventhough it was their fault. I had to do the Exam another time again. Dieter was interesting because he was honest, he was a lawyer, and he treated me not to be false and to be true.
