My Uncle Gav

My Uncle Gav provides a good example of a life lived long, and, for the most part, well. He was a kind of “still waters run deep” guy who didn’t say much. Gav expressed his nature physically—on Hollyburn and Garibaldi as a young man; at Silver Star after retirement —from his teen years right through to his 92 birthday. He skied beautifully. His story, of career and schooling denied by the depression and war years, of diligent work at a job beneath his intellect, of 28 years of joyful skiing in retirement, would be of interest to many who live in the shadow of the mountains that he loved. I learned many things about living well from my Uncle Gav.—121 words

Kaethe
She turned 85 the year I started to work for her as a live in caregiver. A breast cancer survivor for almost exactly 40 years until it finally got a hold of her. Battling this fatal condition she became an expert on alternative medicine and other kinds of woo do. She also was, a firm believer in healthy living and growing your own food. Her respect for nature and all living things was sacred. She was kind to others and a tough critic of herself. Her physical appearance a small frail woman with a girlish bell ringing laugh. Kaethe was a very intriguing individual with lots of color and contrasts and you might enjoy her character too.

My Dear Ant.
My aunt Anna is an example of vitality and optimism for me because she loved life and enjoyed it. Her life wasn't easy. When she was a young girl, she was forcibly moved to fascist Germany for work during the Second World War. Her master treated her like a slave; so she run away from him. Of course, she was caught and it was fortune that the police didn't kill her. After war my aunt came back home. Her older brother was killed in the field, the country was ruined, and a starvation reigned everywhere. Nevertheless, my aunt saw her future with optimism. I never saw her moody; she never complained about hard life. She was cheerful person--she loved to sing and dance. She was able to enjoy small success or marveled things like a baby. When I remember my aunt Anna, my soul fills up with heat and light.

The sister I never have
I meet Mimi eight years ago when I came to leave with them here in Canada. She is the older sister I never have. She is a smoker; but she does believe people in the olden days smoke a lot yet they live longer. She found humor despite in the eye of the storm. Mim as I call her, live her life and teach her children the way her parents taught her (old school) when she was younger. At a young age, her experiences in life are quite impressive. She is the person who always likes to be on the move. As she always said,” I only rest when I’m in the coffin”, which made me laughed but it does inspired me to go on in my everyday life in spite of challenges.

Tai Kwan

Tai Kwan was my patient in the children hospital. He had a malignant tumor in his right leg. The day before he amputated his leg, he told me, “The doctor is a judge to pronounce I will die, but the fate must be held on by myself.” During chemotherapy, he didn’t cry nor shout, frowned and closed his eyes so tightly and lying on the bed quietly. His mature behavior expressed the firm confidence he had. I didn’t believe a nine-year-old kid was so brave. My soul was shocked by his belief. He liked drawing pictures and wrote notes to record his struggles. Now, he had passed away a long time ago, his pictures and notes were printed as a book to study in elementary schools. I always think that a value life is not based on how long it is, but how people set as role models for others.

My Life Gift

She is a bright, kind, little teenager, with a high ponytail, likes chatting and jumping around, and fascinated in furry animals. From time to time, I am impressed by her wild opinions and broad views while she opens a conversation with me. She hates my leather-upper shoes badly as if she is feeling their pains. Recently, she spins around routinely on our hardwood floor before bedtime, practices the triple or even more pirouettes in order to become a top dancer in her class. My nerves were extremely intense when she was challenging her limits. Although I am challenged by her disobedient sometimes, I am cheer about her boosting confidence as well. Her passions toward life have been accompanying by me and my family. She is my little daughter: Brenda.----130 words

Mr J
I was fourteen, when a young, hippy-looking, freshly qualified history teacher came to the school I was attending at that time. His name was Jan. In contrary to a very popular name, his methods of anchoring the knowledge, and approaching students were very innovative in those days. Soon I discovered he was full of surprises, passion for sharing historical knowledge, and nothing about old-fashioned teachings. It was like a future man suddenly shows up and started to tell the stories about the past. He opened my (and other students’) eyes on the world’s and domestic’ events. His motto was: “There’re two sides to every coin.” Mr J taught me to be discern about what I read or what I watch. I learned to think first before judging things too quickly, and most important, that humour is the best teacher. – 140 words

My Grandfather
My grandfather acts as a positive role model in my life. In his 80’s, he is physically fit and has the same courage of doing work as he had in his 30’s. His early life was full of hardships because he was the bread earner at the age of 15 after his parents died. According to him, “Life is a battle, so we need powerful weapons of bravery and self-determination to overcome it.” I learnt from his life that the word impossible is saying itself that I am possible. He has never asked for much and he has lived a simple life. He taught me that the kind of seed we sow, that is what you will reap. It also implies that the end results of work are wholly dependent on how hard we work.

Why Mrs. Vernon?

I think Mrs. Vernon would make a remarkable essay topic. She was warm-hearted, loved to laugh. She never had anything bad to say to anyone. She would laugh at my jokes even though they were not very good. With out her I wouldn’t have made it out of elementary school. She was a great tutor and a super listener. Also, Mrs. Vernon always found the time to help me with my homework by being patient and understanding me. Her love of cooking inspired my interest in science. Mrs. Vernon taught me to respect all living things. I grew up confident with myself. She was truly one of a kind and I miss her. That’s the type of person Mrs. Vernon was. Simply remarkable!

My teacher Mr. Jaghori

He was active-minded and fully intelligent but fond of politics. He could read people`s minds easily by looking into their eyes. He almost knew everythings. Not only was he a good thinker, but also he was a good speaker too. Although there were very few facilities at school, he could create a fully academic atmosphere for his students. He taught with his feelings and from the deep of his heart. I learnt a lot about life from him. His class did more than a university for me. Meeting him is one of the biggest events that happened in my life; he caused me to know myself and my expectations of life. He was just like a pharos for wandered boats in sea. I`ll never forget him.

My teacher

Lily was teaching me computer programming when I was in the college. She is younger than my entire classmates. She is the one I have ever met who is clearly to know how to make balance between life and work. She is a very smart person. She gave us IQ test almost every week. She is also a fashion girl. Some of my friends were dating her once. They draw a conclusion that she was too mysterious. No one can catch her rhythm. When we were graduated from the college, one of my classmates opened his own businesses. He asked lily to join his company as a programmer. I was working there a while. I got many experience and good salary. If I have chance to back college, I also like to visit her. (133words)

My Boyfriend Darcy

My Boyfriend Darcy is probably the hardest workingman I know. Ever since we were kids he has always had a job, a workaholic I say. He is a go with the flow kind of guy, it works for him. He is always making people laugh and always has a clever come back. I met Darcy when I was in grade 10. Our Best friends were dating so it was inevitable for us to meet. Our friends set the whole thing up a double date. He is a very adventurist I learned that quick, seeing him jump off cliffs and race down mountains. I sometimes with I could be brave enough to go fast down a mountain, like he can. He is an amazing person to me.

My co worker Dihigi

Every winter I travel south to work in the warmer weather of southern California. This last particular trip I met a man named Dihigi. He helped me through some issues I was having.
I have never seen somebody always in a good mood and making people laugh the way he did.
He always seemed to know when I had something on my mind. The more I got to know him and his history the more he amazed me. Growing up in the worst neighbourhood of L.A. called Watts, where gang violence is very common. Dihigi was even involved in a gang himself as a youngster. He claims if he had stayed on the path he was on, he would of been dead by now. His passion for horses saved his life, really. Then he went down in a spill during a race about 8 years ago and broke his back. Finally healed enough to still exercise horses in the morning, the positive attitude Dihigi has every single day truly inspired me.

My father

My father was one of the best men I have ever known and read about. He was very smart and handsome. When he first met my mother at a party on a campus, he immediately decided that she would be his wife. On one of their first anniversaries he presented her a beautiful rainbow stone; since they were students at a medical institute, the stone was one he had found in a dead body while performing an autopsy. I took a sense of humor, appearance and optimistic way of living after him. He has placed in me a love of travel (despite the fact that he had not had the opportunity to travel) and reading. We always played a game “World capitals”. When I had asked him any questions, we tried to find answers in encyclopedias together. My father was my best friend. He and my mother always was a couple of a good and a bad cops, he was a good one.

My uncle Ahmad is great model that I would like to be –though he is a year older than me: a kind, helpful, and an innocent (like a baby) young handsome man. He always motivated me; when I get disappointed about myself, with a smile and in a soft strong voice, kindly fulfill me with energy. He is ready to help me at all the time without any complain. I talk to him: he always suggest and tries to solve my problem. He is truthful and faithful man, which makes him to look at everyone with the positively. Being a model is wonderful, to be a great model as Ahmad: amazing.
