Appreciating a Line, an Idea, an Image

From today's notes, identify a line or an idea or an image that sticks with you. No need to refer to the poet by name, but please do say why (at least as much as you know) that it has reached you as a reader. Write about at least two (and as many as four).

Here are a few favourites:

"hide your tears" because in the context of a poem about immigration it shows the strength and despair of newcomers.

"to roll down the hill" because it uses motion and brings to mind an image of children playing a universal game (one I loved to play until I got too dizzy).

"to be trapped in trees" because it uses alliteration and produces a sense of danger in the forest.

"a signature on paper/with shivering hand" because it captures motion (and emotion) in a way that all can relate to.

"to keep on not feeling/something sweet" because it captures the feeling of a parent not always realizing the little moments that make life special.

"to run through the sprinklers" because that is fun to do and I can imagine it in my mind's eye easily.

"to be the sea/or taste the salt" because it encompasses the whole world of the sea and the experience of an individual tasting it, too.

“and if only once/to share the worst pain” I can imagine that we like to share our bless more than pain, how about the worst one, often we keep it.
“to embrace a dream/and hold it” I believe that poet wants to hold on soft dream because it is more wonderful than harsh reality.
“and to follow a clue of the dream in your heart” I like it because it notes to necessarily believe the soul existence and its realization not just the physical clue.
“and to keep on not feeling something sweet” it is an image to human’s dissatisfaction.
“and to realize a picture in the blink of an eye” It’s a beautiful image which say that heart can see more than eye or can see what eye can not.

“spending without limits” because it makes me think about irresponsible people that are not cautious with their money. They enjoy wasting money while there are many people in the world who are in need.

“hug your enemies” because it will be wonderful to have a peaceful world, where people show forgiveness to their enemies and fix their problems with peace, harmony and love.

“to learn from your mistakes” because it shows people that they can improve themselves next time.

" hide your tears" because it point out the ups and downs we newcomers faces in life and how to handle them.

" to keep on not feeling/ something sweet"because it reminds me about our bad judgement in everyday life.I know we are human and sometimes we make mistake.

And " to be the sea/ or taste the salt" because it shows the result ones get when you made mistake in your life.we should not only think about today but tomorrow as well.

“to be a lion / or combat his wild life;” give reader an courage and energy to fight to survive in the wild field – our real social life.

“to tell soul / from everything it’s not;” it means , I guess, to give spirit to everything even the animal or goods, or to deal with everything as they are all alive.

“Life is the only way / to enjoy every moment of happiness,” shows us the poets’ love of life, and the happiness of her or his recent life.

“Life is the only way … discover the unknown;” Yes, even we exhaust all our life to learn, there are still a lot of unknowns. It shows us how huge is the universe and how tiny is a human.

“a new idea / but ending up in misery,” This is true in our real life. A sounded good idea is not actually good unless it get successful result. Win or loss is the only criteria of good or bad.

Here are some of my favourites:

“to tell truth” because this captures the emotions and feelings where sometimes, there are certain circumstances when someone have no choice but to tell a lie rather then from what is true.

“savour a coffee” because this is something I enjoy doing every morning before I start my day, instantly this image of coffee pops into my head.

“and if only once to fly with the birds” because this image reminded me of the past, when I had many pleasant dreams about flying with a flock of birds and soaring through the skies without a care in the world; I was free.

These were my favourites:

"mislay you passport at the airport" i chose that because its true people loose things everywhere we go, were not going to always be perfect and never put something down and forget to pick it up!

"to be a labour or seek your way out" i chose this one becasue everywhere we go there is someone who hates ther job and is seeking a way to get out but cant becasue thats whatthey need to live.

"show forgiveness, hugwith your enemies" i chose this one because i always have the stretgh to forgive but i can never own up to liking my enemies!

"mislay your mistakes in the dark"
i chose this one because it reminds me of trying to forget your mistakes and not living with them your whole life!

Here are my favorites:
"hide your tear" because I can image the writer's expression, I was educated like "no tear hero" when I was younger.
"to run through the sprinkler" because nearly all people have these experience and I can image a beautiful picture.
"to learn from your mistakes" because it is true, I always improve and grow up from learning lesson from my mistake. You can't slipped twice in the same place.
"to be a wealthy" because it is a beautiful dream for many younger and wish a real, not a dream.

I think a multiple of images go through my mind when I first read this, a lion can be a man trying to conquer the world .Conquer Life. Be able to support his family.


to be a labour,
or seek a way out
Because, I can envision 3 types of people when I read this a worker (labourer)person who follows direction vs. a person who gives direction (Boss) leader. Then there’s the wanderer the person who is the labourer who wants to be the leader

mislay your mistakes in the dark;
I like this because I know almost everyone does not like to admit there mistakes and mishaps therefore choosing to erase them from their minds .

to conquer your fears with all your efforts;
This line reminds me of how strong people and how far people will go in terms of getting over their fears and rising to the occasion.

To search in endless abyss of possibilities,
When I read this line , I imagine timeless space as if anything is possible and dream’s can come true.
